Dogal & Jonas Hellborg

Swedish bassist Jonas Hellborg is one of the world's leading bass players, shaping genres from jazz to world music with technical brilliance and creativity. He has mastered bass playing since childhood, studied classical music and jazz, and debuted in New York in 1983 with "The Bassic Thing." Over 40 solo albums, countless guest appearances and awards, including the Swedish Grammy, have marked his career. He gained renown as a member of John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra in the 1980s, working with greats such as Bill Frisell and Steve Vai and combining jazz with sounds from India and Arabia. His style is unmistakable, fusing and inventing, developing bass guitars and amplifiers, and he remains a pioneer of the electric bass. With worldwide tours, including to Syria, where a live album was recorded, Hellborg has left a lasting mark on the music scene.
